Sip the Season: Dé Buddha’s Winter Drinks Inspired by the Himalayas
As winter wraps the Renfrewshire hills in frost and the nights stretch longer, Dé Buddha invites you to embrace the season with a selection of Himalayan-inspired winter drinks that warm both body and spirit.
From ancient mountain brews to innovative infusions crafted by our skilled house mixologist, each drink narrates a tale of snow-capped peaks, sacred valleys, and the enduring spirit of Nepal — all enjoyed in the heart of Johnstone.
Why Winter Calls for Himalayan Warmth
At Dé Buddha, we’ve embraced this tradition at 12 Collier Street, combining authentic Nepalese ingredients with Scottish hospitality to craft winter drinks that warm you up and awaken your senses.
1. Chhyang – The Rice Wine
Chhaang (Nepali: छ्याङ, Newar: थो:) is a Nepalese and Tibetan alcoholic beverage popular in parts of the eastern Himalayas among the Yakkha, Limbu, Dura, Newar, Sunuwar, Rai, Bhutia, Gurung, Magar, Sherpa, Tamang, Tharus and Lepcha communities. Among the Lepcha, it is called Chi. It is also known as jaarh in Nepal.
2. Yarchagumba Whiskey
Yarchagumba Health Beverage is a specially formulated drink in which Yarchagumba (caterpillar fungus) has been blended with alcohol and multiple natural herbs to provide the most beneficial extract.
3. Khukuri Rum
Born in the Himalayas, Khukri XXX Rum is an exceptional dark blend, distilled with rich molasses, Himalayan spring water, and natural artisanal flavours. Aged among snowy peaks in casks born from the region-exclusive Shorea Robusta tree, every sip of Khukri XXX Rum delivers a complex taste with rich natural flavours, earthy undertones and a smooth, long caramel finish.
4. Himalayan Brandy
From the Himalayas a legacy begins! A premium blend of floral, fruity and spicy tones created by our Master Blender using traditional matured grape brandy distillates and botanicals. Its vibrant and rich aroma leaves a wonderfully elegant and velvety finish that lingers longer on the palate. The deep amber hues draw you in, to enjoy the delicacy and finesse of this refined unique premium brandy.
